Pinkeye Redux?

So, I woke up this morning and thought I had pinkeye. I really don't think I did. This whole scenario causes several problems, both/all (depending on if there are really two or three problems) are probably in my head. The first problem was, if I really did have pinkeye, should I be going to church and spreading it around? The normal answer is, no, absolutely not! However, being raised in a family that would trudge through snow two feet deep to get to work and only miss work when either puking/extraordinaly contagious/forbidden (with spies) by doctor, I had guilt feelings as soon as I called my co-confirmation teacher to let her know that she would be leading our four spirited eighth graders to the Quaker meeting by herself. Then I went back to bed, knowing that I would have to call off of Sunday school and doing the children's sermons for both services. I did that later, and the pastor made me feel pretty normal about calling off. You simply cannot go to church and not touch people, at least not when you're me. So I think the world is better off by me staying home. Except that I don't think I have/had pinkeye. So there go the guilt feelings again.

The other part of this story is that I got some looks from my brother-in-law when I went to visit my father-in-law in the hospital. When John (said BIL) asked how church was that morning, I said I didn't go because I thought/think I had/have pinkeye. So he looked at me with "How-dare-you-come-into-the-hospital-and-infect-my-father-you-dumb-bitch" face. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it. Anyway, my response was, "Well, I really don't think it was pinkeye anyway, and besides, I'm not touching him." Except that I had just opened his silverware for his dinner, and unpeeled the paper from his straw, and helped rearrange the blankets on his bed. Well, as I said before, I REALLY DON'T THINK I HAVE/HAD PINKEYE!!! So then I should have gone to church.

Ugh, you see how this gets ugly. Let's change the subject.

So, I went to Tiffany last night with dear, dear husband and got the aformentioned earrings (see below) but not the ring. I have giant, humungoid lumpy fingers, you see, so the leaf ring looked like it should be on the fingers of a troll when I put it on, it had to be so big. Instead, DH and I decided on this lovely, delicate band:

We also had awesome dinner at California Pizza Kitchen. All in all, a great trip to KOP!

Well, if you'll excuse, I think I'm going to go try to actually knit. I've noticed that lately I've been reading about knitting, blogging about knitting, updating and customizing my blog about knitting, etc. etc. etc., yet I've not done any actualy knitting. So, tonight, I forge ahead!!!

Love the jewelry (love - jewelry - does that even need to be said??). Don't beat yourself up about the pink eye thing. Probably was an allergy thing (unless your eye's still pink) - alot of that going around this year. If it was pink eye, as long as you don't touch your eye and then touch someone else, you don't have a problem. :-)

But, being unsure, I think you made a good call (with work, etc).
