Costume Changes

Well, Baby J is on the move bigtime! I don't think he'll ever crawl on his hands and knees -- he has got SUCH a long torso (must be from DH's father...no one in my genetic lineage has a long torso, nor is tall and skinny!) I don't think he'll be able to lift it up off the floor!

We had a great night last night; he went down to bed easily (well, he's been doing this thing where he wakes up about 20 minutes after I put him down and acts like it's the end of the world, but I just have to let him have a minute or two to be sad and he falls right back to sleep) and didn't get up to eat until 5! Woo hoo! Plus, I was afraid that he'd stay awake after that 5 o'clock feeding (although my rule is that he HAS TO hang out in his crib until 6 so that Mommy can at least lay in bed and listen to him on the monitor instead of chasing him around his room) but he went back to sleep and didn't get up again till 7! That's SLEEPING IN for me! Woo hoo!

His new thing is that he hates to be dressed and undressed. Diaper changing is also a challenge. No longer are we on the changing table. For one, he somehow got an ugly-looking scratch on his inner arm (though he never cried about it) from some unseen sharp edge of the changing pad, and he also is trying to launch himself headfirst, backwards, off of the table, which just does not make me very comfortable. So we're on the floor for all changing needs. When I try to change his outfit (which I do as little as possible -- only from pj's to daytime clothes, and Lord help me, at this point I would totally send him to daycare in pj's if it were socially acceptable), he acts like I am trying to kill him. He tries to scamper away, or roll over, or climb me. Anything to avoid a new outfit! So I need some suggestions -- how do you restrain (what an awful word!) your baby when it's time for a costume change? Maybe they will have something at Kangaroodle to help with this. I am entering the contest at Adventures in Babywearing and I hope I win. A $50 gift certificate! I could do some damage with that. Here is my favorite item from the site so far:

Isn't it cute? It's a onesie that says "Lunch is one me." And Lunch is ALWAYS on Baby J these days!

Also, if you need a place to go to see what's new and hot, check out Mama Speaks. They review all kinds of cool stuff for mamas and babies and I think I want to be a contributor there! I wonder if they would let me?
